How the money works
A gift and a membership take separate paths.

Money a university holds, such as gifts through MSOE University Advancement, stays in the university's accounts. ALL never moves it.
When you fund an event, you choose before you pay: unspent money stays with the chapter, or comes back to you after the event closes.
Donate hardware, food or prizes. The Foundation acknowledges what arrived; your acknowledgement describes the item, and you set its value.
Funds restricted to a chapter are spent only for that chapter's purposes. If a chapter dissolves or goes inactive for twelve months, the Foundation applies its balance to other purposes within its charitable mission.

ALL AI Network takes $0; card processing is the only cost. If you let the chapter keep unspent money and the event is overfunded or cancelled, the Foundation directs it to the chapter or the network.
Fiscal sponsorship

Each chapter is a student community and a sponsored project of the Foundation, which is the legal entity behind it.
A chapter's money sits in a restricted Foundation account, never in a student's name. Members file reimbursement and prize requests, officers approve them, and the Foundation pays them under its own controls. Every receipt comes from the Foundation, with one EIN and one audit trail for every chapter and event.

Chapters are fiscally sponsored projects of the Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The Foundation carries the legal and financial weight, so your students and your institution don't.

Who receives the money?
ALL Applied AI Network Foundation (EIN 42-3604980) receives and receipts every gift made through this platform, and holds it in an account restricted to the chapter. No money is held in a student's name. Money your institution holds, such as gifts through University Advancement, stays in your accounts and follows your rules.
Do students sign anything binding?
No. The operative agreement is between the Foundation and the chapter as a sponsored project; officers agree to conduct and spending rules, not to financial obligations. Students are never personally party to vendor contracts, leases, or debts, and never carry personal liability for chapter finances. Spending runs through reimbursement and prize requests that chapter officers approve, paid from the Foundation's restricted accounts.
How are chapters named?
Chapters keep the name their students chose. The school name is used only to say where the students are, without implying the university operates, endorses, or sponsors the chapter.
What about our marks?
University names, logos, and marks are never used in commercial marketing without the institution's written permission. Chapter pages use the school name only to state where the student community is — the same way a student resume would.
Is a chapter a registered student organization?
Sometimes, and we are transparent about it either way. Recognition as a student organization is your institution's to grant, and chapters state their current status plainly rather than implying it. A chapter that is not (or not yet) a recognized student org still operates fully under the Foundation's umbrella — recognition changes campus privileges, not the legal structure.
